Britain’s Amir Khan has told the Daily Telegraph that he would be interested in fighting Ricky Hatton in the future, despite previously denying that such a match could take place.

Having seen Hatton lose his fight to Khan’s sparring partner Manny Pacquiao recently, Khan has suggested that a contest between himself and Hatton would be a fantastic proposition for the fighters and the public alike.

Khan is currently in training for his World title showdown with Ukranian Andreas Kotelnik at London’s O2 arena on June 27th, what the young boxer describes as “the fight I have been working towards for the whole of my life.”

Despite Kotelnik having lost just twice in his career, Khan insists he is in the best shape he has ever been in and is confident that he can fulfill his dream of becoming World Champion, four years after turning professional.

If all goes as planned Khan can see that a fight with Ricky Hatton would be exactly what the public would love to see, saying “It would be a brilliant fight because of our different styles. I’m a boxer, he’s a pressure fighter. It would be brilliant for the fans, but we would have to leave that to the promoters.”

Ricky Hatton has yet to decide on his future following the second round KO at the hands of Pacquiao, but the financial lure of a contest between the two Lancashire boxers would surely be too much to ignore.
