Britain’s Andy Murray has been forced to withdraw from the Dubai Tennis Championship, not because of the suspect ankle as expected, it appears that he has been suffering from some form of virus over the past few weeks that returned on Wednesday after his defeat of Arnoud Clement.
Murray says that he woke up on Wednesday night sweating, his doctor put him on a course of anti biotics straight away, but the player has complained of feeling tired all week. The problem may have started back in the Australian Open, when Murray suffered a similar condition after playing Marcel Granollers. Murray said today;
“I have felt cold and shivery and had a sore throat, I feel that my temperature is up, and my body feels bad. I don’t know what it is, some virus perhaps, but after that match I didn’t feel great and I’ve not felt 100% since.”
Doctors have told Murray he will need to rest for at least a week to ten days, but the 21 year old still has his sights set on a place in the Great Britain team for the Davis Cup match against Ukraine in Scotland next week.
