World number two Andy Murray fought his way into the semi finals of the Cincinnati Masters as he continues his defence of the title that he claimed last year.
Murray looked to completely lose his focus during the first set, giving up a 3-2 lead to fall behind 4-6 to the Frenchman Julien Benneteau and his frustration continued into the second set when he trailed o-2.
There is no doubt that at this stage Murray was playing his worst tennis for a long time, but suddenly he took control of the game following an incredible 53 shot rally that took it’s toll on Bennetteau.
Murray pressed his advantage to win the second set 6-3. The deciding set was not quite as one sided as the 6-1 result might suggest, the Frenchman although exhausted from another marathon rally, would not give up the fight but Murray proved too much.
Andy Murray now waits to see if he faces world, number one, Roger Federer or Leyton Hewitt in the semi finals.
