Britain’s Andy Murray dropped another place in the Tennis World rankings following the win by rival Novak Djokovic at the China Open.
Djokovic moves up to take third in the rankings after winning his third ATP title of the year beating Marian Cilic 6-2, 7-6 in the final. Murray drops down to fourth after opting to miss both the China and Japan Opens, to concentrate on letting his wrist injury heal fully.
Murray should be back in action in time for the Valencia Open on November 2nd and the Barclays World Tour Finals at London’s O2 Arena that follows.
In other Tennis News, Former World number one ladies player Justine Henin has been granted a wildcard in the Australian Open in January. The 27 year old Belgian has announced her comeback from retirement after less than two years away.
Henin is expected to make her return to competitive tennis at the Brisbane International, starting on 3 January, ahead of the Australian Open, which begins in Melbourne on 18 January.
Henin will no doubt hope to emulate fellow Belgian and former World number one Kim Clijsters, who made her return to Ladies tennis this season and won her second US Open title as an unseeded player in only her third tournament back.
